This page introduces my experience of the first year of the architecture course. The year consisted of four main projects and many workshops and sub-projects. The first (awaiting addition to this site) was an introduction to the design process where we designed a container for an object special to someone else. In effect by talking to them we deciphered a simple brief. After its design we then assigned a third member of the group to construct it.

The second project was the design of one studio within a linear development of 60 along the banks of the River Clyde. Here we were introduced to the idea of rapid idea generation sketches and model building. It began with a workshop in editing space (yet to be included) and a life drawing workshop to familiarise ourselves with the human form.

The third main project was a pavilion, used as an introduction to repeated forms and structures. We also did sub projects based upon the structures of bridges and high towers in card and paper.

The final project was the design of a family house in a low density part of Glasgow overlooking a large playing field and park. There were three different sites to select from, a great luxury!
